The System 2000 features...

The Duplo Digital System 2000 is a mid-volume booklet maker designed to provide a digital printer with a ready to go means of producing booklets from digitally printed pages. There are options for the type of finish required with optical mark recognition to trigger the bookletmaking sequence. For example, the feeder can take pre-printed litho covers to wrap around variable content inside pages produced on a digital press. Inline trimming gives a professional finish to the completed products.

The Digital System 2000 is a powerful finishing tool that straddles both offset and digital worlds, allowing production of standard booklets or more complex products which can include pages which have been customized on press. Handling variable content print at the finishing stage needs a highly automated tool like the Digital System 2000. Standard finishing lines cannot cope. The operation is triggered by a simple sheet count, or optical mark recognition for more secure integrity. For more complex operation, a bar code reader can be fitted. This will provide data back to a production management system. The Digital System 2000 opens the way for a company to move to higher value added products that come when personalization and customization are available.

There is easy access to all parts of the line starting with the feeder trays. These include air knife separation to prevent doubled sheets being fed. An inverter ensures that the sheets remain in the correct printed order. Once fed, sheets travel in a flat path through the bookletmaker, again offering easy access and a clear view of the paper path. Optical mark recognition is used to determine the end of each set. A bar code reader can be fitted to increase the sophistication of this system and audit that all pages are present in the finished booklet.
